Vancouver ART GALLERY NORTH PLAZA REDESIGN

UFA was part of a multi-disciplinary team selected by the City to redesign Vancouver’s pre-eminent urban square. The plaza had fallen into disrepair and the team recognized the opportunity to bring this space back into civic play as the city’s most compelling central square. Our work included analyzing best practices in public space design elsewhere, developing a set of urban design principles for the site, and several preliminary design options. The result is an elegant new square at the heart of Vancouver that is simple yet dynamic and flexible, and optimizes use of the space for the broadest
range and scale of uses.
