WEST END BUSINESS IMPROVEMENT ASSOCIATION

STREETSCAPE + DESIGN GUIDELINES VISION

The West End Business Improvement Association (WEBIA) retained a team led by Urban Forum Associates to develop a
Streetscape and Design Guidelines Vision for the West End BIA through a 3-day design charrette. The intention was to
develop a plan that would guide future private development and public realm improvements in the BIA area. UFA led and
facilitated the charrette, which successfully engaged multiple stakeholders to find consensus and develop practical design ideas for the built form and the public realm of the area. 

 

The community was invited to review and comment on the charrette results during a public open house. 

 

The resulting document describes what the WEBIA wants to achieve, protect and enhance, and how this vision can be achieved through specific design strategies and guidelines for the area. It is intended that the document will form a key input to the City of Vancouver’s future West End Community Plan process.
